How Can I Check the Camera Permissions on My iPhone 7?

posted on April 12, 2019

Many of the apps that you download from the App Store on your iPhone will need to use some of the default apps on the device. Whether it’s Dropbox needing access to your Photos so it can upload them to your account, or a spam-blocking utility that needs access to your contacts, there are certain apps that rely on your iPhone’s default apps.

Some of the apps that you download might also want to access your camera. This may be fine for something like YouTube, which requires camera access if you want to record and upload videos directly through the app. But you might not want to give permissions to a random game app, where you aren’t sure exactly why it needs that access. Our guide below will show you where to find out which apps have camera permissions so that you can disable those permissions for any app that you want.

How to Find and Disable Camera Permissions for Your iPhone Apps

The steps in this article were performed on an iPhone 7 Plus in iOS 12.2. Note that some apps may not function properly if you remove their camera permissions. However, you can always come back to this menu later and restore those permissions if you change your mind.

Step 1: Open the Settings app.
